The Gentle Giants In Material Handling

Gough Econ recently announced that it has shipped its 275th vibratory unit since production began in 2002.

The 275th vibratory system is a part of two twin rotary feeders sold to Giant Snack Foods of Wahpeton, ND. The feeders are part of an integrated packaging line the company is installing to feed existing Gough Econ bucket elevators. Product from the bucket elevators is delivered to form fill and seal packaging machines.

According to Gough Econ, vibratory energy is one of the most economical methods of conveying and screening material if applied correctly; the result is an energy-efficient operation with more reliability, gentler product handling, optimal flexibility and significant savings due to enhanced productivity.

Twin rotary feeders are primarily used for applications beyond the scope of electromagnetic drives—especially when the system needs to be more than 5 ft. in length or 18 in. in width. These particular twin rotary motors enable the customer to process materials from 50 to 3,500 cubic ft. per hour. Equipment ranges in size from 12 in. long and 6 in. wide to 28 ft. long and 4 ft. wide. Depending on the application, the system can be used to feed, convey, screen or elevate material.

“Since 2002, we have sold more twin rotary vibrators and screens powered by dual motors than electromagnetic drives,” notes Andy Leitch, Gough Econ vice president of sales. “We refer to these feeders as our gentle giants since they are so powerful yet gentle in handling material.”
