Hydrogen Peroxide Breather Vent

The A-441-F-SS-CV breather vent for use in hydrogen peroxide applications has been approved by the Association of American Railroads (AAR approval # PRD-072001). This enhanced breather vent incorporates a new component check valve in the cap that has been designed to prevent hydrogen peroxide from leaking in the event the railcar is upset or turned over in an accident. In addition, the design uses a stone filter instead of membrane filters to provide better wear characteristics and improved chemical resistance. Engineered and constructed to withstand the common abuse found near the tank car's fill location, the new kit can be retrofitted in the field and is now available for order under part number K-441-CV. The new kit fits in any of the three existing breather vent body styles.
